Terrazzo Pedestals

Unquestionably solid yet invitingly sensual, the sculptural forms of these vast terrazzo pedestals were derived from the worn, carved stone elements of classical architecture. To poetically subvert the original forms and materials, we reconstructed three imaginary pieces in cast terrazzo, with deliberately softened edges to evoke the passage of time. We chose terrazzo for its fluidity and inherently recycled nature, blending leftover raw marble and stone fragments from the quarrying process into a humble, composite material. Robust and simple in form, yet hinting at tradition. Originally designed for exterior use, these are equally as elegant indoors, and can be used as a stool, table or pedestal.

First designed by Scott Maddux for our Holland Park House project in 2015, and later installed in our Primrose Hill Family House project in 2020.
